#Just Do It

#JustDoIt    The words hang in the air right now.  Memes everywhere, folks ticked off at one another. Brilliant or not so brilliant marketing by Nike.   Well, it did draw an immense amount of attention to the brand, hence giving it a lot of air space and putting the brand in front of all. So perhaps it did what it was meant to do ….for Nike.

Unfortunately, it also gave opportunity to stir up strife with a lot of people.  It caused some to feel their service to our nation was dishonored. People got angry, set Nike shoes on fire, got mad at friends on Facebook (all too common these days).

As I watched many of the posts, I was irritated to see the fallout.   I went on with my day and was asking the Lord “what’s the right answer; how do we deal with this stuff? It’s gotten crazy on social media and any media with the back and forth.  How is a believer to view and respond?”

As I went along cleaning I heard “Do the work of an evangelist”.  I went and looked up the scripture.  2 Timothy 4:5 Paul tells Timothy  “But you keep your head in all situations, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, discharge all the duties of your ministry. NIV

I felt like the Lord was saying to me “keep your focus; make My mission your focus”. Yes, there’s a lot going on, but the truth is we are to be salt and light. Not hiding our light under a basket.  One work of the evangelist is bringing the good news of the gospel of Christ.  The truth is Jesus longs for no man to perish, but for all to come to everlasting life.

WHAT NEWS ARE YOU BRINGING?

This question hung in the air as I meditated on all the current happenings online. Some of these things, if we’re not careful could veer us off course with what God’s doing right now.  (See “Don’t Take the Bait”)  That’s not to say stick your head in the sand and don’t engage in healthy dialogue with others.  No way.

The message I was getting is that it’s time to labor to bring in the harvest.  The time is ripe for salvations, healings, deliverance, seeing miracles, signs and wonders; welcoming the prodigals home.

All of Second Timothy is awesome.  But check out Chapter 4:1-5  Paul exhorts Timothy I’m verse 2  ”Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all long suffering and teaching. “

I love Isaiah 52:7  “How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of those who bring good news, who proclaims peace,  who brings glad tidings of good things, who proclaims salvation, who says to Zion, ‘Your God Reigns’”!!!

Prayer: Lord give us beautiful feet to spread the good news!   Help us to incline ourselves to Your mission and purpose so we may see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living🙂
